PALPRAC associate members

  • Free access to informal, supportive and educational PalliCHAT Zoom sessions once a month, open to all health care workers
  • Experience the benefits of PALPRAC advocacy in integrating palliative care in the formal health care sector through engagements with the DoH, medical schemes, statutory bodies and policy makers

PALPRAC Membership Criteria

  1. Prior MBChB qualification; currently in good standing with HPCSA
  2. Palliative Care forms at least part of current practice
  3. Palliative Care qualification (a) or work experience (b) required:

a. recognised postgraduate qualification (Diploma / Masters / PhD) from either University of Cape Town, Cardiff University or other qualifications at the discretion of the PALPRAC board

b. at least 36 months full-time experience in a peer-recognised Palliative Care facility / setting e.g. Hospice. Palprac would encourage these practitioners to obtain a formal palliative medicine qualification. A letter of recommendation by a health care worker trained in palliative care will need to be provided.

Membership Fees

Annual membership is payable upfront before final approval.

Currently membership is for medical doctors only. Membership criteria will be broadened in 2021 to accommodate other health care providers interested in palliative medicine. If you are a social worker, palliative care nurse or allied health care worker with palliative medicine qualifications and you want to be part of this process, please contact info@palprac.org.
