Partner With PALPRAC

PALPRAC runs on a small team. Much of what we do, training, mentoring, national advocacy and connecting practitioners across the country, is carried out by a small group of people. Our members also give generously of their own time.

What that small team reaches is out of proportion to its size. We support practitioners in every province, contribute to policy conversations at national level, and negotiate with medical schemes in ways that have changed what palliative care patients can access.

This matters for anyone considering a partnership with PALPRAC. Palliative care doesn’t sit neatly on most funders’ priority lists. It’s harder to describe than a single service or a pasient ward, and PALPRAC’s role, building the profession and the system around it, is harder still to neatly define. It’s a niche within a niche, even though palliative care is something almost every family will need at some point, for a parent, a partner, or themselves.

Support has already shown what it can do at this scale. Bursaries have enabled practitioners complete training they couldn’t otherwise have afforded. A small grant can fund the development of a new training programme, a mentoring initiative, a national gathering, or a policy submission, each reaching far beyond its own budget line, because it moves through a network already built to carry it.

PALPRAC is looking to partner with a small number of funders on that basis: investment in the organisation itself, not a single project, so it can plan further ahead and take on the work this network is positioned to carry.
